Every September, Moda Fabrics celebrates National Sew a Jelly Roll Day, and what better excuse to pull a jelly roll from the stash and start sewing?
That’s exactly what inspired this quilt!
I had a pretty floral jelly roll tucked away in my stash for quite some time, and Sew a Jelly Roll Day seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally put it to good use. I honestly don’t remember the name of the fabric collection, but the soft pinks, lavender, creams, and delicate floral prints were just too pretty to leave sitting on the shelf.
I decided on the classic Jelly Roll Race pattern. It’s a fun, simple way to turn a collection of 2½-inch strips into a quilt top without a lot of complicated cutting or piecing. Sometimes it’s nice to just sit down at the sewing machine and enjoy the process!
For the quilting, I chose Soft Rose by Urban Elementz. The flowing rose design adds beautiful texture and complements the soft, romantic feel of the fabrics.
I love how this quilt turned out. The simple horizontal strips let the fabrics shine, and the floral quilting gives it just the right finishing touch.
It’s always satisfying to turn a jelly roll that’s been waiting patiently in the stash into a finished quilt. And thanks to Sew a Jelly Roll Day, I have one more project crossed off the Quilty Queue!
